Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat, please give a steelhead that’s nice and fat! That’s right boys and girls, December is here and with it comes the beginning of another winter steelhead season. Gone are the days of floating lines and pretty little wet flies. It’s time to break out the sink-tips and the big critters.
It’s time to layer up in fleece. It’s time to bust out the boot-foots. It’s time to hunt winter steelhead! For some of us, this is a sacred time of the season. While we love summer fishing, nothing beats the heavy pull of a big winter fish. The river flows are up, the weather has turned, and the crowds are gone. Will you find your first winter fish before Santa slides down the chimney?
