July marks the beginning of summer steelhead season for many of us. The rivers to watch are the Deschutes, the Umpqua, and the Dean. There are others, but these three jewels are always consistent in July. While many anglers are still in trout mode, some of us can’t resist the urge to swing our fly for chrome. If you’ve ever hooked a bright July steelhead, you probably asked for time off last April.
